Grisons is building in the mountain
Graubünden offers a dramatic landscape and is an interesting destination for new architecture in the Alps. The deliberate confrontation with tradition, scale and material allows contemporary architecture to emerge, without being appealing.
Using the example of Vrin, we rediscover the wood-knitting, in Vals the careful processing of the local Vals quartzite, Fläsch received the Wakker Prize for exemplary localization and always new concrete buildings, colored, decorated with ornaments and / or monolith in single-shell insulating concrete.
In the canton's capital, Chur, a return to the legacy of the 1960s takes place. Concrete buildings, several icons of this time have been carefully renovated and expanded thanks to the intervention of the Heimatschutz so that old and new look together into the future.
